FAQs

Why do handmade crochet plushies cost more than store-bought toys?

The price of handmade crochet plushies reflects the true value of artisan craftsmanship. Each plushie requires hours of skilled handwork, from the initial design to the final finishing touches. Unlike mass-produced toys, every stitch is carefully placed by hand, often taking hours to complete depending on size and complexity. The cost also includes high-quality materials like premium yarn and stuffing, plus the expertise developed over years of practice. When you purchase a handmade plushie, you're investing in a unique, lovingly crafted piece that will last for years rather than a machine manufactured toy.

How should I care for my crochet plushie?

Proper care will help your plushie maintain its shape, softness, and vibrant colors for years to come. Store your plushie in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. If spot cleaning is needed, use a damp cloth with mild soap and gently dab the area. Always allow the plushie to air dry completely before storing or playing with it again.

Can I put my crochet plushie in the washing machine?

We strongly recommend against machine washing crochet plushies, even on gentle cycles. Frequent washing can cause your crocheted plushie to lose its shape and color, and may even result in permanent odors if not dried properly. The agitation from washing machines can cause the yarn to felt, stretch, or become misshapen, and may damage delicate features like embroidered faces or sewn-on accessories.

What's the best way to wash my plushie if it gets dirty?

If your plushie needs a thorough cleaning, hand washing is the safest method. Fill a basin with cool water and a small amount of gentle detergent. Gently squeeze the plushie in the soapy water without wringing or twisting. Rinse thoroughly with cool water until all soap is removed. Gently squeeze out excess water (never wring) and lay flat on a clean towel to air dry. Reshape while damp and allow to dry completely, which may take 24-48 hours depending on size.

Are your plushies safe for children?

Safety is our top priority. All our plushies are made with child-safe materials and construction techniques. We use securely attached eyes and features, and ensure all small parts are properly fastened. However, we recommend adult supervision for children under 3 years old, as with any toy. Each plushie comes with appropriate age recommendations based on its size and features. Our lovey/snuggler collection is always created with little ones in mind and contain no small parts.

How long will my crochet plushie last?

With proper care, a quality handmade crochet plushie can last for decades. The durability depends on the materials used and how well the plushie is cared for. Our handmade plushies are built to withstand loving play and can be passed down through generations.

Can you make custom plushies?

Yes! We love creating custom plushies based on your ideas, favorite characters, or special requests. Custom orders typically require additional time (2-4 weeks depending on complexity) and may have different pricing based on the design requirements. Contact us with your ideas, and we'll work with you to bring your vision to life.

What materials do you use?

We use only high-quality, durable materials in our plushies. Our yarn is typically acrylic or cotton blend, chosen for its softness, colorfastness, and durability. We use polyester fiberfill stuffing that maintains its shape and doesn't clump. All materials are non-toxic and safe for children. Safety eyes and noses are secured with washers and locked in place for durability.

Do you offer repairs if something happens to my plushie?

Due to the nature of handmade fiber art, there is a chance for a yarn tail to protrude, if this happens you can gently push it back into the plushie. With love and wear, plushies can develop holes which can be stitched with conventional needle and thread. It is recommended to sew a bit further out to secure. We stand behind our craftsmanship and offer repair services for our plushies. Contact us with photos of any damage. We may be able to guide you through a repair at no cost, or let you know if it's something we can repair and what the cost would be. We want your plushie to bring joy for years to come!
